The Art and Technology of Storytelling

Learn to inspire, teach, and connect with children through storytelling on September 29, 2010 at 5:30pm in the WG Library Community Room

Willow Glen in Motion is pleased to present its first open house, “The Art and Technology of Story Telling”. The open house is a dynamic interactive workshop presented by storyteller and educator Deborah T. Simon. As professional storyteller, Deborah uses stories as vehicles for learning. The advantages of telling stories and reading aloud to children include: building strong family bonds, preparing children for school, and establishing the foundation for lifelong learning. Storytelling can create a lasting bond between a parent and child.

Willow Glen Founder's Day

On September 8, 1927 Willow Glen voted to incorporate as its own town in order to block the South Pacific Railroad from going through their neighborhood. Since then, the Willow Glen community has stayed together, creating a place that is truly "Personal, Friendly, and Different." Come to the downtown of Willow Glen on Sunday September 5th and 12th to celebrate Founder's Day, and to help illustrate that Willow Glen still has the same strong community it did over 80 years ago.

Sunday September 5th: Family and Kids Day
Come to the downtown of Willow Glen for a family fun day featuring the 3rd annual Powell's Sweet Shop Kid's Flea Market. The children of Willow Glen and surrounding neighborhoods, age 12 and younger, are invited to participate! In addition to all the flea market fun, we'll also offer face painting and raffle prizes. There is no cost to participate, but you must register by August 27th; and all participants are encouraged to bring a can of food for the Sacred Heart Food Bank.

Sunday September 12th: Giving Back to the Community
This will be the 3rd annual Cruise for a Cause Car Show benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank (based out of La Villa). While you're on Lincoln checking out the all the cool cars, stroll down the History of Willow Glen Beautification Project. This is the kick-off celebration of of the mural-project. Information and maps will be available for self-guided tours back into the history of Willow Glen.
